Jamie gave this to her Mom for Mothers day!!! A portrait of all their horses.  A special gift!

Small bedroom wall painted with a silhouette of wind mill and trees.  Evening sunset and storm clouds on wall and ceiling.  Just what the customer asked for.  She loves stormes.

The kids named her Lizzy the Lizard.  I was hired by Prudential Financial to paint this to help the River Museum's fundraiser.  This was a fun project.  I never thought I would paint a Lizard!

This Pottery styled room was so cute!  Pictures don't show it well.  Little girls love butterfly's and flowers!

This was a neat adventure boy's room.  The dark color was interesting to paint.  It made the room cozy.

This play room was fun to paint!  Cool cars and rolling hills.

Jack's room was one of my very favorite rooms ever.  The colors were so cute and the animals darling.

This darling baby girls room was for Jack's unborn sister.  I used a colage technique with papers and paint and of course lots of glitter!!!  So cute!!  I love glitter!
2010

Last spring I was accepted as one of only a few artists to work on a door that was pulled from the old Roshek building.  The project was sponsored by the Dubuque Art Center to help raise funds and promote Dubuque's Sustainability Concept.  As artists we were each givin one of the concepts to represent.  Mine was preservation of nature.  I decided to depict the view from the Mines of Spain looking over the Mississippi.  One of my most favorite places.  I decided to include some of the wildlife and plant life that you might see when walking at the Mines of Spain.  The Mural was purchased by the bank next to the old Roseck building now IBM.  Another interesting project.

Annika and Ava's room.  These girls are twins and are good friends with my daughter Emily.  It was fun to work on their room for their 7th birthday.

Grayson is my nefew.  I went to visit my sister inlaw in DesMoines Iowa during the summer to do this mural for the arrival of Grayson.  This was similar to the mural I did in 2009 but I added the elephant in this one.  He turned out cute and so did Grayson.

The Muehlenkamps are true Milwalkee brewers fans.  They wanted a baseball mural decked out in Brewer style.  The two brothers watching the game is so cute.

2011

Emily's knew exactly what she wanted.  A brown tree that she could then hang her things on.  Neat idea.  I think this room turned out to be so cool for a teen.  Whimsical and fun.  The butterfly is done with my colage paper technique.  Very cute!!!

Nick is a avid hockey player and enthusiast.  They love the Black Hawks.  His room will be decked out with hockey memorabilia.  Very cool!!!

I love this room!!  I think the broken wall is cool.  This is really fitting with Elijah's character, he is a true pirate!

This mural was done for a grandaughters room.  Grandma and Grandpa wanted a nice room for their little cowgirl.

This toy room was the 3rd room I did in this beautiful house.  Jack's jugle room previously is in the same house.  This house was built by Jessy Ganson construction and is so amazing.  His woodworking skills are that of an artist himself.  I think it will be in the parade of homes this year if he doesn't sell it first.  I'm priveleged to have painted in this house, the perfect canvas.  Jessy wanted the toy room to be a farm theme and provided photos of his ideas and I took it from their.  I think it turned out awsome.  More photos follow.

Now you can see the layout of the mural more.  See the crown molding on the ceiling, nice.  You could turn your child's room into a beautiful, imaginative play area too. Just call!!! #563-590-8404,  Sarah Barnes.

This is a mural on 3 canvases called a triptych.  When you hang them you can space apart on wall and it is a neat effect.  I also painted the monkey silhouette and bamboo by curtain.
Photo colors are not great it was nicer in person!!!

2013
I was hired by Prudential Financial to paint this turtle for the Mississippi River Museum fundraising event. It has been displayed at Prudential for the last few months and then will go to the museum to be auctioned. This was a fun project and I got to paint my favorite subject "ocean"

Artist Statment

I'm passionate about the idea of creating something from scratch. Using raw materials such as paint, fabric, clay, paper, food ect, and turning those materials into something beautiful functional, or even playful.
I have always been acutly observant of the world around me, espesially nature. As a child I would escape into the woods behind my house and examine everything. I still love to do that!
As a artist I get to capture the world as I see it. My work continues to be a journey of letting myself go and letting to divine flow thru my brush to capture the subject of my work.
I have been given a gift and feel priveleged everyday to paint the experiences I encounter in life, as a artist, mother, explorer, and woman.
I hope you will take time to ponder and take pleasure in the landscapes, still lives, and murals in my porfolio and gallery pages.
I founded my buisness Mural Inspirations because of my passion to create. I put the word inspiration in the title of my buisness because creating paintings or murals is truly inspiring to me and I hope for those who view my work. I also want to promote other artists and to promote art in general in my community.
I learned how to create from my Mom. She is definitaly a do it yourselfer. I grew up watching her tackle all sorts of creative projects. She is a self tought artist from a little town in Wisconson. She has been painting for 50yrs and still going strong. She continues to sell her work all over the country and in our local community. She is definitaly an inspiration and so is her work.
I will continue to paint and create as long as I can too. I hope as long as my Mom.
